The Snail And The Whale

Overview

This classic Julie Donaldson novel has the children taking part in a number of different exercises which maximizes engagement and interest in the story. The children take part in warm up with a range of different exercises to get them ready for their journey as the whale. They take part in the game ‘Snail Trail’ and also have to keep their ‘snail’ close to them in the game ‘Watch The Icebergs!’ Just like in the story, the learners have to be careful of the huge waves and dodge the speedboats in two fun activities.

In a game which requires lots of teamwork, the children have to spray the whale with as much water as possible in the activity ‘Help the Whale!’. Once the whale has been saved, the children finish the activities off with the game ‘Back to the dock’, with them successfully taking back the snail in a target game.
