Overview

The learners will immerse themselves in the book by being the boy character throughout the story. To start with, the children will warm up with lots of different exercises like high knees, heel flicks, running backwards and sideways to get themselves ready for their journey.

They’ll take off up to space by concentrating on keeping their ball close to them in the game ‘Drive Your Plane!’ and also think of ways in which to help keep the plane in the air in the game ‘Petrol Station!’. Children will work in pairs in this dribbling game ‘Not Alone Anymore’ and also think of lots of different items they may need to fix their plane in space in the fun activity ‘Items For The Journey’.

• Each lesson plan is equivalent to 3, 45 minute lessons
• Can be adapted and used for more than one year group
• Should be revisited more than once for understanding of the book and skill progression.
